FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO REACH
Our students come from an extremely poor background.
They are under-nourished and cannot afford to pay for their education. We, in the REACH school pay for their tution fee, uniform
and books and provide them with lunch also.
REACH is incurring a monthly expenditure of about Rs 400,000, which is constantly on the rise as the student population
increases by about 100 individuals each year. Moreover, increments in emoluments of staff and inflation add to the increase
in expenditure by about 10 percent annually. The expected monthly expenditure is likely to touch Rs 1,000,000 (one million)
by year 2010. REACH meets the school expenditure through donations, Zakat contributions, child sponsorship program and above
all, financial support of Punjab Education Foundation. By the grace of ALLAH, our donors’ list keeps increasing as does
our expenditure.
Alms giving (zakat and donations) is given a lot of importance in Islam. Infact, zakat is one of the five pillars of
Islam. The quality of a true muslim is described in the Quran in Surah ‘AL BAQARAH’
in verse 177 which translates as follows:-
“ It
is not Al Birr (piety, righteousness and acts of obedience to ALLAH) that you turn your faces towards
east and west (in prayer); but Al Birr is the one who believes in Allah, the last day, the angels, the Book, the Prophets
and gives his WEALTH in spite of the love for it, to the kinsfolk, to the orphans, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ . Such are the people
of the truth and they are the Al Muttaqun (The pious).”
Specifically
on donations, the Quran states,
“Those
who spend their wealth in the cause of ALLAH, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with
injury, their reward is with their LORD.” (Al – Baqarah, Verse 262.)
“Verily,
those who give sadaqat (Zakat and donations) men and women, and lend to ALLAH a goodly loan, it shall be increased manifold,
and theirs shall be an honourable good reward (Paradise)”. (Al Hadid, verse 18.)
CHILD SPONSORSHIP SCHEME
A large amount
of money is required to employ well trained teachers, provide free uniform, shoes and stationery to most of our students whose
parents are too poor to afford these necessities. In order to meet these expenses, a child sponsorship scheme has been introduced.
Interested persons can sponsor one or more children by remitting rupees fifteen thousand/UK Pounds 120 or US Dollars 250 per
year. The specimen sponsorship form can be downloaded from our website
